I was born into a poor family in a farming village in Kent in 1946. I left school at 16 unsure of what I wanted to do with my life. Unusually for my family I left the confines of village life and went to work in London.
From my early teenage years I was always searching for a greater purpose in my life. After five years in London, and the death of my father, I travelled, as many did in the 1960’s, to Greece, Turkey and all across to India. These experiences of travelling and many challenging times, opened my eyes even further to the wonder and diversity of the human family and to new facets of who I was and to what period of human history I was living in.
After an illness I came back to UK and my family and continued my search. I became a member of the Baha’i Faith in 1972,married Jill in 1975 ,and we decided to become school teachers as well as dedicate our lives to pioneer .As there is no form of priesthood in the Baha’i Faith pioneering means to move to foster the growth of diverse Bahai communities around the world and to work in whatever we could to pay our way .We trained to be teachers in Hull and our two children Daniel and Hannah Bahaiyyah were born .
In 1982 the opportunity came to move to Dominica in the Windward Islands where I worked as the Occupational Therapist in the only Acute Psychiatric unit .From there we moved back to the New Forest near Southampton and on to Macau China where Jill and I taught at the Bahai ‘School of the Nations ‘and our now teenage children studied in English and Mandarin.
In 1996 we moved to Lincolnshire where we taught and also trained to be personal counsellors until our retirement. Am currently Chairperson of the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’i s of Lincoln and a member of the steering committee of Lincoln Interfaith. Jill and I have three wonderful grandchildren and are happy to live in Lincoln although we still love to travel and to find new insights into the mysteries of being a human being. I still very much treasure the company of all ages and peoples from every part of our magnificent and beautiful planet home.’

I was born in Welwyn village in Hertfordshire and after leaving school studied art for three years at St Albans and Maidstone art schools finishing in 1971. Following this I trained to become a primary teacher and taught in different primary school settings in the south of England, overseas and in Lincolnshire for over twenty years. As well as teaching art to adults part time during days as a young mother I also taught English as a second language to German, French, Portuguese and Chinese students.
I first heard of the Baha’i Faith from a friend in 1971 and became a member a year later. I have lived in and travelled to different Baha’i communities around the world where I have learned in more depth about the oneness of the human family. I taught at the Baha’i International School in Macau.
I am a mother of two and a grandmother of three children who are Baha’is.
I currently serve as secretary for the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Lincoln.
